target audience: who your product is for
market research: gathering the needs of your target audience
Task two – comparison
Questionnaires are a primary research technique as are focus groups, you are getting information for yourself rather than finding it from someone else. During Questionnaires you can find out a lot of information at once, and a range of opinions, its cheaper and easier to get hold of the information, where as with focus groups you need more people you might not be getting peoples truthful responses in fear of being judged, its also cheap but sometimes you have to pay for the people to come to your focus group.
Online Research is a secondary research technique as you are finding the information out from an already well known source, where as Analyzing Radio Shows that already exist is primary because you are analyzing it. Online Research can be easy but also misleading because you can’t always trust what you find on the internet because it has come through many other people. Analyzing Radio Shows that already exist can be a bit harder because it takes more time, it’ll take time to listen to it, write down notes and maybe relisten, however it is more reliable than the internet because it is coming straight from the source.
Qualitative Data is descriptive, so words where as Quantitative Data is countable so numbers, both are incredibly useful, Qualitative doesn’t really have a limit unlike Quantitative data, you can find words to describe pretty much anything where as numbers have a limit. Also Qualitative are more flexible, its easier to change words into something new than numbers (quantitative) Quantitative Data has its advantages as well, such as its easier to learn about peoples buying patterns and you can analyse the behavior of your competitors.
Task 3
During my podcast I only use one song, Take on the world by You Me At Six, this is the only external clip i used. I didn’t really write a script, i wrote a small intro but i decided to wing it so i could properly bounce off my interviewee’s ideas, i also had a few questions put down but didn’t use them all
Podcast Script

Production Plan-
I am going to film the intro with my voice and then put it together with all the sounds so i have my intro done, i am then going to film the rest of my podcast and fit it with the intro before trying to put the song in it, before i put the music in i will cut out all the unneeded bits and make it right, the music is going to be my last step.
Task 4
I used a few research techniques to make sure my podcast was as good as it could be, i used already written podcasts to give me some ideas for mine, listening to the things they involved, interview techniques how they introduced the music, this gave me the ability to make my podcast sound similar to those, it gave me an extra way of doing things and making mine sound more professional. I also looked up things about interviews and the kind of questions they asked and whether to ask lots or a few and keep it short, i ended up keeping it quite short and only asking a few questions to give my interviewee the opportunity to talk more about their opinions, it also meant we could discuss and compare opinions easier. We also held a focus group prior to recording as extra support, and talked about other things i could add, they suggested talking more about the services used and maybe a second show as not everyone knows the vampire diaries. We then sent round Questionnaires asking the rest of our class to ask some general questions about things to do with our podcasts and podcasts in general.(199)
So some of the things that worked quite well were the questions and only having two people to interview, it meant it wasn’t strictly overwhelmed with talking and things people could have found boring, i think the choice of adding a song into it worked well but i think it would have been better if i had added an extra song or even a more well known one to redraw in the audience. Adding the song in broke up the talking, it meant people could take a break and think about their opinions on the topics we had discussed and also enjoy the song, either if they knew it or learn a new song. I think another thing we could have done better was do a more varied approach to the tv shows, we only really talked about one show and obviously not everyone knows that show so i think it would have been better if we talked about more than one, if it was a real podcast it could have then brought in more listeners. I think if we made it slightly longer and involved more songs to break up the talking a bit more, it would have made it easier to sit through and listen to because just listening to people talk for fifteen minutes can be a bit boring. I think the interactive questions made it better because it means that people feel involved and then if it was real they could answer the questions it would drag more people in and if it became a weekly thing we could start doing competitions. The audience feedback really helped as well as the focus group we held, it gave me ideas i hadn’t even thought of that i could add to my podcast, it also proved some points about not everyone knowing the TV shows i know so it meant i knew i had to change the variety. The focus group also gave me some good ideas which meant i could further my podcast yet again, they reminded me as well that not everyone knows the same tv shows so i should talk about the services we use, like Netflix, amazon and others because everyone has at least one, therefore people might be more interested. We also included interactive questions so people can feel involved and then if they wanted to they could email in their answers if it was a real podcast. Getting other peoples views on my podcast ideas really changed my view on it, i thought doing one show would be okay because the right people would be able to hear it but by adding more we can involve more people. It also showed me that not many young people actually listen to podcasts often and they talked about why so it meant i could try and incorporate some of the reasons why into mine, i made it relatable and funny, i also included music to break up the talking so they wouldn’t get bored.
