My original plan for the product was to talk about things that I knew needed more light (Black Lives Matter, and sexual assault), I wanted to press the issues harder on society, showing them that this is not just a trend, and we need to fight for this to change. I thought it was important to prove that this is not okay, and it has been going on for too long and its time we do something about it, I wanted to give the history and the facts so people can see how bad it is. Our original brief was to create something about the Lockdown and the affects it has had on us and how other people were affected. My target audience is for 14+, I think both Black Lives Matter and sexual assault need to be talked about from a younger age, so we are made aware of it from younger. It is important to keep talking about it among us so that they know more about the history, and they know what to expect when it is talked about rather than being thrown in at the deep end at school. My product met the brief because I talked about something that happened partly in lockdown, its bigger than lockdown but it resparked in lockdown due to cases like George Floyd and Sarah Everard. I also talked about how this affected both black communities and women, I talked about how it changed their year but also their entire lives just being born into the families they were. I have tried to lighten the mood with some music, so it is not all serious for the younger listeners, so they do not get bored of all the talking. I think the main reason that my podcast went the way it did, and I did not finish it was because of my organization and time keeping, with my organization, the process of my project started off well but towards the end I lost enthusiasm and I underestimated how much I had left. I did not leave myself enough time to finish the things I had left.

The specific bits of my podcast that went well, were the research, I think because I was interested in what I was researching, the recording went well, I was more confident than I was last time we went in, I enjoyed it because I was prepared and knew what my plan was. Again, the research went well, knowing what I wanted to do, and being passionate about it helped. I have learnt I need to be better at time management and working out everything I need to do and doing it before the deadline, knowing what I need to do from the beginning means I can start doing it ASAP, it also helps because I can be ahead of the schedule. I know this because time management has always been an issue for me, I have always struggled to get everything done on time, I have seen that my podcast has not been finished due to poor time management and organization.

The main problem I came across during my project was how distracted I got, while filming I found it hard to concentrate which meant that I spent a lot longer on it that was necessary. I think during my written work as well I often got distracted which made it harder to focus which also meant my time management did not match what it was meant to, being easily distracted also meant I found a lot of time to do other things meaning the work I had to do was growing whereas my time was shrinking. I also think a big issue I had was organization, I wanted to rush doing my podcast, so I was ready to edit it and do everything around it, but I was not ready to film my podcast, I still had more research to do which we worked around during the podcast we got up small bits of information I could use to wing the bit we were talking about. The ending of the finished podcast never got finished but of what I did, I did not have much to work with, I did not film enough different bits, so I had more to work with. I also had too much rubbish that did not work with the bits I had so I had more files to work through which made it longer. I did not have to use my contingency plan as everything I thought could go wrong did not and we could do everything as expected.

Option 1- Doing a video of everything big the world has gone through, and the fact we have all done it together, think about things we have overcome in the past and talk about how close we are to the end and everything we will get back. Including the bad bits and the good bits showing how everything effected.

Option 2- A podcast based on minority groups, for example the BLM movement and the more recent situation of women and how they feel unsafe outside, I can talk about how this has always been an issue, but both have been highlighted due to covid and social media, I can talk about how social media has made it easier to prove who is in the wrong, spread awareness and support people who have been through things.

Equipment: Microphone, Software, Computer, Headphones and Mixer.

Characters: Me and Kaylie.

Contingency Plan 1: Unable to use the Recording Studio.

If I can’t record anything in the Recording Studio, borrow a recording device from college and do it with that.

Contingency Plan 2: If my original guest is unable to record on the day.

Either find someone else to record with or record my bits on that day and then rebook for a day they can do.

The lessons I have learnt are that I need to be better at Time Management and Organization. I need to work out what I need to do and make sure I am more prepared so I can get everything done by the deadline. I now know more about how Adobe Audition works and more about the topics I researched, I know I need to be better with my time management and organization so I will be more prepared. I want to do more with podcasts or radio shows, I want to be a Radio Presenter at some point as it’s something I enjoy doing and something I am very enthusiastic about, I grew up listening to radio and have some good memories with it and I want to give someone else that experience.

If I had to make another podcast about a similar issue, I would take out the BLM side of things, I knew more about Sexual Assault and had more of a right to talk about it, I think focusing on one issue would also mean it could be more intense and more in depth rather than doing it about two different topics and it being more wish washy over both. I would also have liked to have more people involved in it as it would have shown more of a variety of the issue and shown more about it to the listeners. My main Feeback has been about making it more focused, talking about things in more detail and using more facts so it sounds more professional, I was also recommended to get an actual professional to get involved so they could talk about the topics as well.

The main way I could have improved the project management was to be prepared and not to rush things, I think when I got ahead of myself and started rushing things that’s when everything started to go wrong, pushing ahead of what I should have been doing is when I started to notice the gaps in what I needed and is when I lost motivation.

As the host, I think I carried out my role well, I made sure both me and the guest knew what was going on I also checked that everything worked and that we had everything we needed. I also checked with my guest about what was going to be spoken about so they could do their own research if they felt the need, or they could prepare themselves because the topic was rather intense.

My guest talked confidently about her past experiences and about both topics which made it easier for me to talk about mine.

I think when it comes to my future products will be better and better quality because I will be more prepared and knowledgeable of what we are using, I will also be more interested in finishing the project if it’s something I am interested in. I also think that now I know what I need to work on to get it all finished it will be easier to keep on top of things so I can get it finished for the deadline.
